Alfred Sung Monaco Group Inc

Sung collaborated with Saul Mimran and Joseph Mimran in 1980 to form Monaco Group Inc., the corporate organization that would develop the Sung brand and the ready-to-wear collection aimed at working women. Within a few months, the Sung brand was available in major department and specialty stores throughout Canada.

Alfred Sung Club

Joe Mimran, Saul Mimran, and Sung, three Canadians, launched the first store on Queen Street West in Toronto in 1985. This store, which still exists today, used to include a cafe beneath the sales floor. In 1989, the first US store opened in Santa Monica. Club Monaco was a Canadian firm headquartered on Bloor Street West and Avenue Road in Toronto until 1999. Polo Ralph Lauren, which purchased Club Monaco in 1999, now owns and operates it. Sung moved to Canada in 1972. His following stage was planning for an active apparel maker in Toronto’s piece of clothing region. Around 1977, Sung opened a small shop called Moon on Carlton Street, just east of Sherbourne, in Toronto’s Cabbagetown. He used his skills as a fashion illustrator to supplement his income. His desert-colored designs, which were comfortable and had a loose fit, stood out a lot from the black leather and skinny jeans of the Punk scene.
