Adam Lippes is an American fashion designer who rose to prominence at Oscar de la Renta before launching his own label in 2004.
Lippes began his fashion career in 1995 at Polo Ralph Lauren before moving on to Oscar de la Renta, where he quickly rose to the position of Global Creative Director. From 1996 to 2003, he collaborated closely with de la Renta on all aspects of the business, including design, marketing, and new business development.

Under the label ADAM + EVE, Lippes debuted his own line of cotton basics in 2004. Following an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and investment from The Atelier Fund, a Compagnie Richemont Investment Vehicle, the company, known as ADAM, evolved from cotton basics into broader contemporary collections.
In 2007, Lippes was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and he staged his first formal runway show during New York Fashion Week, landing him on the cover of Women’s Wear Daily. In October 2007, Vanity Fair named him to its “Next Establishment” list. ADAM opened its own stores in New York City, Buffalo, and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and collaborated with Mango on collections sold worldwide. Kellwood Company purchased ADAM in August 2010. Lippes purchased Kellwood after the departure of CEO Michael Kramer in 2012.
The Adam Lippes brand debuted in 2013. Adam Lippes’ core concept is understated and luxurious designer sportswear with an emphasis on refined fabrics and tailoring. The collection has received critical acclaim and has been seen by style influencers and in the press around the world.
Adam Lippes designs four collections each year: Pre-Spring, Spring/Summer, Press-Fall, and Fall/Winter. Over 75 luxury retailers in 20 countries and online carry the brand. Bergdorf Goodman, Matches, Neiman Marcus, Net-a-Porter, and Saks Fifth Avenue are among the current retailers. Adam Lippes was Target’s annual designer collaboration for Fall 2015.
