Jillian Barberie and Dorothy Lucey were fired from Good Day LA in 2012, and Maria was brought on as Steve Edwards’ new co-anchor. Sansone had appeared on Good Day LA numerous times before landing the job, as part of a round of on-air tryouts that took place over the summer of 2012. She also brought a plethora of expertise to her new position, having begun her career in broadcasting at the age of 11 as a kids’ sports reporter for WJET-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania.
