In January 2007, Puente succeeded WWOR-TV veteran meteorologist Storm Field as the station’s lead meteorologist, a position he held until WWOR’s evening newscast was canceled in July 2013. Since late 2012, she has been the weekend meteorologist at WNYW, as well as the channel’s primary fill-in meteorologist.

She previously worked for WCBS-Channel TV’s 2 News This Morning and CBS 2 News at Noon, where she gave weather forecasts. John Elliott was hired by WCBS on January 1, 2007, to take her place. Prior to joining WCBS, she worked for WNBC as a weekend morning meteorologist since 1999.

She worked as a meteorologist for WJCL and WTGS television in Savannah, Georgia, and WAPT in Jackson, Mississippi, in the mid-1990s. She also filled in for Dave Price on CBS’s The Early Show on a regular basis. Puente is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
