Miel acting credits and Music
In 2014, Bredouw began posting videos on Vine under the username Mielmonster, while working as a chef at an Echo Park restaurant. Over the next two years, he became one of the platform’s most popular personalities, and was featured on the platform’s developer series Camp Unplug. By the time the platform shut down in 2016, his videos had been viewed over 328 million times and his account had over 370,000 followers. After Vine’s demise, Bredouw began posting videos on YouTube.
In 2017, Bredouw began hosting the HeadGum podcast Punch Up the Jam, with guest Demi Adejuyigbe. A podcast involves discussing a popular song with a singer and creating a parody (or “punch”) of the song; it is a comedic performance that usually focuses on the song’s weaknesses. The podcast was named one of the best podcasts of the year in 2018 by The A.V. Club. Adejuyigbe left the podcast at the end of 2019 (but returned for a one-off appearance in November 2020), and Bredouw continued as the podcast’s standalone host, changing things up a bit on the show to discuss the song about “no competition” and to include Musician assistant Rob Muth. Actor Chris Fleming joined the podcast as a temporary host during New York City’s COVID-19 quarantine. In addition to producing Punch Up the Jam, Bredouw has also produced videos for Funny or Die, Super Deluxe, HBO, and BuzzFeed, and is a regular on comedian Ian Karmel’s All Fantasy What podcast.
In 2019, the pop culture blog Barstool Sports published a short video created by Bredouw in 2016 of him singing the Three 6 Mafia song “Slob on My Knob” to the melody of “Carol of the Bells”, but was not signed to BT. After filing a DMCA request, Barstool Sports offered him a $50 gift card to withdraw the request. After he failed to comply with additional instructions, including a $2,000 order and hundreds of messages from accounts affiliated with Barstool Sports, the company served him with a subpoena that would force him to comply with the law if the company asked him to stop using his video. After widespread condemnation of his actions, Barstool Sports removed all of Bredouw’s content from his account, including over 60,000 posts from his Twitter account and over 1,000 posts from his Instagram account.
Bredouw made his debut as a musician in 2020, releasing the singles “Must Be Good” and “I Will Hold” in July. This was followed by his debut album, Tourist Season, produced by his brother Henry. The album was created over a month and a half at his parents’ restaurant in mid-2019. Each of the album’s seven songs represents a different perspective on relationships. Following the album’s release, Bredouw took an extended hiatus. She returned in early 2023 and released the single “Call You Out” on April 20.
