Karpluk is an actor that appears in the film A Million Little Things. She plays Anna Benoit, who is Peter’s wife and subsequently develops feelings for Eddie. A close-knit group of friends in Boston is startled when one of their number dies by suicide out of the blue. As they deal with their loss, the friends come to the realization that they must finally begin living. The phrase “Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things” is referenced in the title.

In Vancouver, Karpluk started her acting career. Before securing the part of Kate in Godiva’s, she starred in over a dozen television programs and films between 2000 and 2005. She performed “Voice of Sylan” in the Dark Angel series finale and the television film Family Sins during this time. In 2002, she also starred in the brief US television series Glory Days.

She acted as a serial killer in Ripper 2: Letter from Within and made an appearance in Legend of Earthsea in 2004. For her first season on Godiva’s, she received a nomination for a Leo Award, and in 2006, she was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role.

Karpluk kept working in television and short films after Godiva’s. She starred in Flash Gordon, The L Word, and Bionic Woman in 2007. In the 2008 television film Smokejumpers, which was directed by John Terlesky, she played the lead role.

While Karpluk was in Los Angeles filming on The L Word, she received an offer to play Erica Strange, the lead character, in the CBC Television series Being Erica. Karpluk’s portrayal of the title character earned her the 2009 Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role.

In the first season of The CW’s Life Unexpected, she also played Alice, the radio station manager, in a recurring role. Due to a schedule difficulty that arose when Being Erica was renewed for a third season, she only made an appearance in the series finale of the second season. Karpluk has also starred in the web series Riftworld and had recurring parts on Slasher and Rookie Blue. She has been a frequent supporting cast member of Fixer Upper Mysteries on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries since 2017.
