In 2011, she participated in the first season of the American version of “The X Factor”, and was the ninth contestant eliminated. Following her termination, she contacted Walt Disney about possible roles in future Disney productions. This led to her appearing in various television shows and films, including BrainSurge, Inside Edition, Big Time Rush, Figure It Out, The Wendy Williams Show, and Fred: The Show. Crow released her self-titled debut EP in June 2011. She competed in a live show, but was eliminated in the final quarter after falling to her death after singing against Marcus Canty. In February 2012, Crow announced that she had signed a music deal with Columbia Records and a television deal with Nickelodeon for her own show. She also toured with Cody Simpson on the Big Time Rush 2012 summer tour, and appeared in two episodes of Fred: The Show.
In June 2012, Crow announced on Twitter that she would be releasing a five-song EP, one of which was written by Crow. He later announced on his website that the album would be released on June 26, 2012 and would be named after the work of the same name. “Mean Girls” was directed by Crowe and Toby Gad, who also wrote the song. Gad also produced the song. The other four songs are “Rock With You”, “Lemonade”, “My Best Kind” and “What a Song Can Do” by rapper Mann. He also worked with producer Jonas Gerberg, who has worked on songs such as “Need”. Re-View praised Crowe’s “intelligence and imagination” in their review of “Mean Girls” and said of the singer: “I have no doubt that she would have been Elvis Duran Artist of the Month for September 2017 and performed her single “Dime” live on NBC’s Today program and on national radio.
Rachel Crow appeared on several Nickelodeon shows in the early 2010s, including Fred: The Show and Big Time Rush, and signed a new contract with the network, but this did not lead to an announcement. Crowe has said that he would have liked to duet with Eminem if he had the series. Crow voiced Kara in the 2014 film Rio 2. In 2017, Crowe starred alongside Ashleigh Murray in the Netflix original film Deidra and Lenny Steal the Train, which has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
