Wardell’s career began at an open mic in early 2010, at the age of 17, before he was invited to perform in Washington, D.C. Waddell found success locally and was seen performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, Oregon in the spring of 2012, eventually landing a spot on the show, which was featured in the Washington Post in October 2012. After two weeks at VCU, Waddell accepted the offer, dropped out of VCU, and moved to Los Angeles to seek more entertainment. After Wardle appeared on several podcasts, his work came to Bob Odenkirk, who introduced him in late 2014. Waddell’s work was featured on his comedy album Amateur Hour, in which Waddell starred in the first four tracks of the album.
Although the album received critical acclaim, Wardle’s performance received negative reviews, with many fans and critics questioning Wardle’s performance on the album. One reviewer criticized Wardle’s performance, saying that he started the album with a “hit” and “unforgettable section.” The A.V.’s Writers Club found Wardle’s participation on the album to be “odd.” He went on tour with Bo Burnham in 2015. He later became the host of the Comedy Central Snapchat series “Hot Takes.” He made his television debut on January 27, 2016, appearing on Comedy Central’s @midnight. In addition to his stand-up comedy, Wardle has also written for Vice, The Washington Post and Four Pins [18]. In November 2017, Wardle began recording a podcast called “Yes, But Still” with host Jack Wagner. Waddell became famous online in 2016 with the popular “Dicks out for Harambe” meme.
