Mark Career

Saltvetter’s interest in speech dates back to his childhood, when he and his younger siblings would discuss palindromes to avoid boredom on long family trips. I, Wan, burned the whore, tarred a mocking wretch.”) is intriguing because of its eye-catching appeal, but it took only a few hours to complete. In 1996, Saltveit founded the biannual magazine Palindromest, devoted to palindromes and related information. He is currently a scholar and teacher of many languages, including Latin and other ancient languages. On March 16, 2012, Saltveit won the first World Palindrome Championship. The match was held in Brooklyn before 700 spectators and was organized by professional Will Shortz. Saltveit’s win beat out six other competitors, including cartoonist Jon Agee and biostatistician John Connett. Will Shortz calls Saltveit “King of Palindromes.” Premiere. Filmmaker Vince Clemente plans to produce a feature-length video of Saltveit and his competitors preparing for the 2017 World Palindrome Championship. Saltvetter lost to Lori Wike
