In 2002, Costa played tennis for two years on the ITF and ATP Tours before being hired as a men’s tennis assistant at the University of Michigan. While working as a teacher’s assistant, he began exploring his interest in stand-up comedy and working part-time with community organizations. Costa began working full-time as a comedian in Los Angeles in 2005. Costa appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, Tonight with Chelsea, and Tonight with Seth Meyers, as well as the half-hour Comedy Center special “Gifts.” Just For Laughs Festival also produced a pilot called Overloaded with Comedy Central in the fall of 2011, but it has not aired since October 2012. In 2013, Costa produced his own miniseries for the television network in support of Fox’s comedy short The Comedy Hour; The audience included Neal Brennan, Dolph Davidoff, Kevin Smith and the Ali Wong Sitcom. In 2015, Costa released his debut comedy album, Comedy For People Who Like It, on Comedy Dynamics Records.
