She appeared as Gail, Nandor’s on-again, off-again werewolf-turned-vampire girlfriend in the American comedy horror mockumentary television series What We Do in the Shadows. Traditional vampires Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja live on Staten Island with energy vampire Colin Robinson, who is looked after by Nandor’s familiar Guillermo. The vampires frequently clash with the modern world, other supernatural beings, and/or each other, while Guillermo strives to combine his allegiance to Nandor with his desire to become a vampire, which is exacerbated by his ancestry as a descendent of vampire hunter Van Helsing.

Turturro debuted in her first film, True Love, in 1989. She has appeared in films like What About Bob?, Jersey Girl, and Illuminata. Turturro also had small roles in Sleepers and Deep Blue Sea. Turturro played Janice Soprano on The Sopranos for 49 episodes from 2000 to 2007, winning two Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2001 and 2007. Turturro played the villainous Bobbi Catalano in the CBS series Medium’s sixth-season episode “Bite Me” in 2009. Turturro featured in the eighth season episode “Car Periscope” of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Turturro starred in the Nurse Jackie episode “Day of the Iguana” in 2012, reuniting with her Sopranos co-star Edie Falco. She portrayed Laura Vargas, the titular character’s lawyer. Turturro made an appearance in Blue Bloods’ fourth season episode “Drawing Dead” in 2013. Since 2013, she has appeared as Judge Felicia Catano on multiple episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Turturro played Maura Figgis, the sister of criminal Jimmy “The Butcher” Figgis, on Fox’s police procedural series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Turturro appears in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’ second season episode “Il Mostro” in 2017.
