In 1997, Atamanuik graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in film theory. He moved to Los Angeles and worked for Jim Henson Interactive, Mr. Show, and Suzanne Somers. In 2000, he moved to New York and began training and performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade. He appeared in the shorts My Wife, The Ghost, and The Incredible Drunk. He is a member of the improv team Death by Roo and a co-host on ASSSSCAT3000 and The Tony Show W.
He made appearances on television in Brett Gelman’s Dinner in America (2016), 30 Rock, Broad City, Difficult People on Hulu, Teachers’ Lounge on MTV, What We Do in the Shadows, and Watch What Happens Live as a bartender. The President Show, which lasted for one season with twenty episodes on Comedy Central from April to November 2017, was created and headlined by Atamanuik. He played Donald Trump in skits and interviews with actual guests on the show. On Tracey Ullman’s Show and Tracey Breaks the News, Atamunuik also made fun of President Trump. Atamanuik has reportedly observed “every rally” to perfect his Trump impersonation, according to NBC News.
