He wrote for “Saturday Night Live” and starred as Sebastian “C-Bass” Yates on the Comedy Central show “On the Road Home.” In the 2004 documentary “The Old Black Space Program,” Sullivan quoted Carew. He also appeared on MADtv as himself in 2003. Black is also a student of The Groundlings, a group of actors and actresses in Los Angeles. Although Black retired from the main theater company in the mid-2000s, he returned to perform in The Groundlings’ development shows The Crazy Uncle Joe Show and Cookin’ with Gas, as well as to teach at The Groundlings.
