Michelle Forbes is an American actress who has acted in television and independent films well known for her dual role in the daytime soap opera Guiding Light, for which she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. She is recognized for her recurring roles on genre and drama shows, such as Ensign Ro Laren in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard, as well as her regular position as medical examiner Julianna Cox on Homicide: Life on the Street in the 1990s.

Treadstone
She played Ellen Becker, the CIA’s chief of operations and a secondary character in Treadstone. Becker gets aware that General Chin-Hwa Kwon of the North Korean People’s Army has requested an audience with Tara Coleman, a disgraced journalist turned cab driver. Becker immediately set up surveillance and despatched Matt Edwards to meet with Coleman to capture the conversation, which was exceedingly unusual.
During the conversation between Coleman and Kwon, Kwon brought up Operation Treadstone, which surprised Becker. She called off the incursion suggested by Edwards and demanded an explanation from her superior, Dan Levine, who then cleared the room. Becker repeatedly asked Levine if the Treadstone program was genuinely over and what the “cicadas” Kwon was referring to, but Levine reacted evasively and declined to provide a direct answer when Becker pressed him. Becker later learnt of General Kwon’s death, which was most certainly caused by assassination, and told Edwards.
She also revealed Cicada, a branch of Operation Treadstone independent from Operation Blackbriar. Becker reported that Kwon was a handler for multiple cicadas, and that cicadas were “sleeper agents deployed into normal cover lives with no memory of their training”. She then offered Edwards leave to study more from Martin Wells, who had previously worked on Treadstone.
Berlin Station
In the American drama television series Berlin Station, she played Valerie Edwards, a no-nonsense administrator who works as an Internal Branch Chief and eventually as Station Chief.The plot follows Daniel Miller, who has recently arrived at the CIA station in Berlin, Germany. In season one, Miller is on a covert mission to find the source of a leak that has provided information to Thomas Shaw, a now-famous whistleblower. Daniel, aided by veteran Hector DeJean, learns to deal with the rough-and-tumble world of the field agent: agent-running, deception, hazards, and moral compromises. In season 2, four months after being shot at the end of season one, Miller recovered enough to be assigned a new undercover mission: infiltrate a far-right German political party suspected of organizing a terrorist attack just before an upcoming election.
