Patti Harrison is an American actress and comedian most known for her roles in the comedy shows Shrill and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, as well as the comedy film Together Together, which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for most Female Lead.

Family – Education
Harrison was born as the youngest of seven children to a Vietnamese mother and an American father. Her father, a Detroit native, served in the United States Armed Forces and met her mother during the Vietnam War while she worked as a janitor in his sleeping quarters. Harrison died from a cardiac event when he was six years old. Her most remarkable contribution to parody was her backing for a comedy troupe while attending Ohio College, from which she did not graduate.

She voiced Debbie, a recurring frenemy of Moon Tobin. Debbie Gladu is what Moon originally names her in S1E8, although she is referred to as Debbie Van over the PA by Principal Gibbons in S2E17, and Moon later begs his father to go to the “Van’s house” to see her.
The surname “Gladu” is pronounced “glah-doo,” and “Van” is pronounced “Vunn.” Because her surname Van is of Chinese and Vietnamese origin, she could be of Asian descent. Her look lends credence to this assertion. In season 4, Carissa was revealed to be her mother, and her Asian-American heritage was proven. A similar alteration occurred with Kima, who was debuted with the surname “Brewper” in season 2 but was given the surname Evanoff in a season 3 episode.
