Career

He started his career in Grand Junction, Colorado. After working for the NBC affiliate local news broadcast in Las Vegas, NV, he became an investigative reporter at KSTP Minneapolis before moving to Los Angeles to work for KCBS. In 2003, he joined KNBC’s investigative team. Grover was a contestant on “Password Plus” while at UC Berkeley. Grover’s hidden-camera restaurant cleaning reports indicated that numerous restaurant personnel did not wash their hands, did not wash their food, dropped it on the floor, and did other bad things. The report increased pressure on Los Angeles County politicians to implement a letter-grade system based on semi-monthly inspections. Another undercover investigation into Jiffy Lube oil-change scams helped reorganize the entire firm.

In 2008, he revealed that hundreds of youngsters in the Los Angeles Unified School District were drinking water tainted with hazardous levels of lead. The District decommissioned over 1000 fountains that dispensed contaminated water and installed filters in over 200 schools. In 2009, he uncovered local agencies violating city water laws by squandering water, resulting in thousands of dollars in taxpayer fines. He also caught Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa watering his yard illegally, despite a public call to avoid using water.
