Emily Gimmel Biography

Emily Gimmel is an American journalist, entrepreneur, businesswoman, and TV personality. Gimmel began his internship at WDRB-TV when he was 15 years old. At seventeen, she began reporting on teen issues for WAVE-TV. Simultaneously, she began conducting a daily radio show for 98.9 Kiss FM. In her final year of high school, she became the state’s first CNN Student News Bureau credentialed reporter.

Career

She was hired as the daily morning features reporter for WKYT-TV, the CBS station in Lexington, Kentucky, two weeks prior to the start of her first Freshman class. In addition, she worked as a weekend pit reporter for The Speed Channel, hosted a weekly radio program on HOT 102.5 in Lexington, and presented the music program Louisville Live. Emily relocated to Indianapolis to work as an entertainment reporter for ABC station WRTV Channel 6 after graduating from college and working at WKYT. Her assignments included interviews with celebrities, coverage of the Indianapolis 500, the Indianapolis Colts, and pieces about Hoosier state lifestyles. She also wrote for The Indianapolis Star and the Big Ten Network.

Along with her brother Richie, Emily is the fourth generation to carry on her family’s business, Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc. She established Graceship, an online retailer of women’s laptop bags, in Louisville in 2011. The three styles of the eco-friendly bags—London, New York City, and Chicago—reflect the respective styles of the cities after which they are named. On the television documentary Southern Belles: Louisville, which aired from May 21 to July 29, 2009, Gimmel was the youngest cast member. She filed a complaint in 2011 alleging that pictures she saw on Is Anyone Up? weren’t of her. She became a member of the board of directors of Seven Counties Services, a mental health center located in Kentucky, in June 2014.
