Wright recently reported from Tampa, Florida, on the Terri Schiavo case. In 2004, Wright spent nearly three months reporting on developments in Iraq. He was one of the first reporters to cover the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. Wright also spent time embedded with American and British troops, reporting on humanitarian efforts in Baghdad, Basrah, and Mosul. Wright also reported on US forces training Iraqi security personnel. He covered the momentous U.S. surrender of sovereignty to Iraq. Aside from Iraq, Wright reported extensively on the 2004 presidential election, including the Democratic presidential contest, the New Hampshire primary, and the South Carolina primary. Prior to joining Fox News Channel, Wright was an anchor/reporter at WAVY-TV/WVBT-TV in Norfolk, VA, where she co-anchored the Fox affiliate’s inaugural primetime broadcast (produced by WAVY) between 1998 and 2003. During his time there, he covered a variety of stories, including a historical event in Benin, West Africa, at which African presidents Mathieu Kérékou of Benin, Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, and representatives from the United States, England, France, and the Dominican Republic apologized for their roles in slavery. Wright previously worked as a weekend news anchor and reporter for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. He got a number of exclusive interviews, including a 1996 interview with O. J. Simpson during the criminal court trial. Wright also worked as a general assignment reporter for WWOR-TV in New York.
