Scott M. Gimple Career
Gimple previously worked as a writer on NBC’s Life, Fox TV’s Drive, and ABC’s FlashForward. Along with Seth Hoffman and David S. Goyer, he co-wrote the script for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In 2011, he was hired as a producer and writer for the second season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. He penned “Save the Last One” as well as the critically acclaimed “Pretty Much Dead Already” and “18 Miles Out” (with showrunner Glen Mazzara).
Gimple took over as showrunner of The Walking Dead in January 2013, succeeding Glen Mazzara. From the fourth to the ninth seasons, he was the showrunner. He also served as an executive producer for Fear the Walking Dead during his stay. Gimple stepped down as showrunner in 2018 to become the franchise’s chief content officer for The Walking Dead television series.
