Morris’ first television job was as an intern news writer in Norfolk, Virginia, while he was still in college. After college, he worked as a courier for the White House press corps, eventually rising to the position of cameraman. Morris left the press corps in the 1980s to work for Prince George’s County in Maryland as an economic development specialist. In 1987, he joined the newly formed anti-terrorism Embassy Task Group of the United States State Department.He was sent to Mogadishu, Somalia. Morris was approached by the producers of Live PD in 2016 to be a co-host alongside Dan Abrams. He worked on the show throughout its entire run.
Morris’ experience on AMW inspired Live PD to include a “Wanted” segment during each episode beginning with the first season. During season 2, Morris collaborated with Angeline Hartmann (also from AMW) at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to create a regular “Missing” segment for the show. As the popularity of Live PD grew, it spawned a number of spin-offs, one of which, Live PD: Wanted, was hosted by Morris alone. Morris was appointed to the American Red Cross Greater New York Board of Directors in 2019. Morris began working as a producer for America’s Most Wanted in 1993. After three years on the show, the executive producer assigned him to be an on-air correspondent for a murder investigation.
