By competing in pageants, she earned scholarship money. She finished third in the Miss Maryland 2004 pageant and second in 2005. While attending the University of Maryland, she enrolled in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program. She was later promoted to second lieutenant. She then relocated to Arkansas to pursue her master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She has interned at the Pentagon’s Office of the Secretary of Defense’s press desk and served as deputy chief of public affairs for the 314th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base. She won the Miss Arkansas USA 2007 title while stationed in Arkansas at the state pageant held in Conway, Arkansas.
On March 23, 2007, George competed in the Miss USA 2007 pageant, which was broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California. She was the pageant’s first active-duty military member in its 56-year history. George previously worked as a morning/afternoon news anchor for KNWA in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was also featured on “Arkansas at Noon,” a combined newscast on KARK that includes both Little Rock and Fayetteville. KNWA and KARK are NBC affiliate stations that are sister stations. She then relocated to Houston, where she worked as the Houston Astros’ Director of Social Media before becoming a spokeswoman for Boeing.
