James McDaniel Biography

James McDaniel Jr. is a theater, film, and television actor from the United States well recognized for his role in the TV program NYPD Blue and the ABC television series Detroit 1-8-7. In the successful Lincoln Center production Six Degrees of Separation, he played Paul. In the ill-fated 1990 series Cop Rock, he portrayed a cop, and in the 1992 film Malcolm X, he was a close advisor to director Spike Lee about the activist Malcolm X.

He appeared as Officer Franklin Rose in the American police procedural musical television series Cop Rock. Cop Rock is a Los Angeles Police Department sitcom starring an ensemble cast of cops and detectives that work together to solve crimes. The series combines musical and choreographic elements while presenting new characters. The major plot is around Captain John Hollander’s investigation into Detective Vincent LaRusso’s role in Tyrone Weeks’ death.
