In 2007, he competed in season one of VH1’s reality competition television show America’s Most Smartest Model, finishing fourth. Novek met professional model Gregg Avedon while working out at a gym, and Avedon sent Novek’s information to a modelling agency. Following an initial picture shoot with photographer Scott Teitler, Novek signed with Irene Marie Models and began modelling for clients such as Papi Underwear, who utilised Novek for an advertising campaign and live modelling events. After his father died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2008, Brett founded the apparel company Good HYouman in an effort to rescue others from the heartbreak he experienced, with a portion of revenues going to aid people with leukaemia and lymphoma. Novek has signed with L.A. Models, and Joy Models Management in Milan, Italy.
Novek was one of sixteen professional model competitors that took part in the season one taping of America’s Most Smartest Model in May 2007. Novek has starred in an Ashlee Simpson video (“Outta My Head”), a LA training promotional campaign, and a Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer training video. Hollister Co., Armani Exchange, Emporio Armani, Parke and Ronen, Cosmo Girl, and Target Corporation are among her modelling clients.
