He made his film debut as a child in the sequel The Sandlot 2. He is well-known for his roles in the television programs The Society and Switched at Birth. He founded The Sign Language Agency, an interpreting agency. David Mickey Evans directed and narrated this 2005 film. Eric Allen Bell wrote and directed the 2006 film ‘Bondage,’ in which he played young Trey. He appeared in the film ‘The Deaf Family’ in 2008. He was also cast in the film ‘The Legend of the Mountain Man’ the same year. He has also appeared in several public service advertisements.
Sean used to do impromptu comic shows with his younger brother as a child to entertain his family and friends. Eventually, performing and entertaining became his passion. He also became interested in magic and practised his skills. He got the top award for his performance at the World Deaf Magicians Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He was a member of Vibrations, the school’s travelling performing arts ensemble, while in high school. He adapted Michael Jackson’s song ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ in American Sign Language (ASL) and performed it live in a number of cities around the country; these performances were huge hits.
He began starring in ABC Family’s television series ‘Switched at Birth’ in 2011, where he played deaf Emmett Bledsoe. His mother was played by Marlee Matlin. The series was also recognised with raising deaf community awareness and motivating people to learn ASL. Sean also does ASL music videos. Invited to make inspiring keynote talks and perform live at Disney. He also appeared in Twentieth Century-Fox’s animated picture ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift,’ where he gave the industry’s first on-camera ASL performance. He has also created an ASL rendition of ‘Hero’. Sean intends to create more ASL music videos in the future, as well as create ‘The Sean Berdy Show,’ which will contain his stand-up comedy and life experiences.
