Moore has been the Chief News Anchor and Editor of KMBC-TV in Kansas City since 1972, with the exception of a three-year hiatus. He worked as a reporter and weekend editor for the Kirksville Daily Express newspaper while in college. He began working as a reporter for KMBC-TV in 1968. Moore became the lead news anchor at KMBC in January 1972, after four years there. In 1980, he worked as a weekend anchor for WLS-TV, an ABC-owned and operated station in Chicago. He departed WLS in 1982 to become a two-year co-anchor at KPIX-TV in San Francisco. In August 1983, he returned to KMBC-TV. Moore has been named Best TV News Anchor and one of Kansas City’s top journalists by the Kansas City Media Reporters organization.
Moore has contributed significantly to charitable fundraising. He auctioned off items at various fund-raising events, including the University of Missouri Alumni picnic-auction-gala, Conception Seminary, the Valentine Gala to fight child abuse, the Central City School Fund auction, St. Teresa’s Academy auction, and the Ozanam Premiere gala. He has also taken part in fund-raising activities for the Diocese of Kansas City. Moore has acted as master of ceremonies for the American Royal Champion Livestock Auction and the Threads and Threads Gala, both of which support the University of Kansas Cancer Institute. He has served on the boards of several charity organizations, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the Kansas City Community Gardens, the National Lost-Child Network, American Royal, Ozanam Home for Boys, and St. Patrick’s Day.
