She was named co-anchor of the station’s 10:00 p.m. newscast, which also included a young Jillian Warry covering the weather. Aguirre subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she worked as a reporter and anchor at ABC-owned and operated station KABC-TV. Aguirre moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the mid-1990s after working in Los Angeles. She was employed by KGO-TV Channel 7. Aguirre was hired as an anchor for NBC-owned and operated station KNTV Channel 11 after quitting her post at KGO. She presently anchors the station’s newscasts at 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
