Bob Fitzgerald is an American sports broadcaster who now serves as the television play-by-play announcer for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors on NBC Sports Bay Area and was a co-host of the radio talk show Fitz and Brooks on KNBR with Rod Brooks.

Fitzgerald rose to prominence on KNBR as the host of the 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. sports talk show “Sportsphone 68.” Fitzgerald co-hosted the Fitz and Brooks show on KNBR 680 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Fitzgerald is in his 24th season as the Golden State Warriors’ television play-by-play announcer. Fitzgerald, in addition to announcing 71 Warriors games on NBC Sports Bay Area, also participates in the “Warriors Weekly Roundtable” and postgame radio talks during the basketball season. Since his arrival, the Warriors broadcast team has received 12 nominations and two Emmys for “Best Live Sports Broadcast,” including color commentator Jim Barnett, the organization’s first two. Fitzgerald has previously been nominated for six Emmys.

Fitzgerald also worked as the play-by-play voice for Sega Sports and ESPN’s NBA Basketball (now NBA 2K) video game series for six years. Fitzgerald has been covering Olympic sports for over 20 years. He was the play-by-play basketball announcer for NBC Sports during the London 2012 Summer Olympics, and he also called the water polo coverage during the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. Fitzgerald was a radio broadcaster who covered basketball at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and also called swimming at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Fitzgerald has broadcast NFL games on the Westwood One and Sports USA radio networks. He presently does preseason broadcasts for the San Francisco 49ers and was the play-by-play voice for the Arena Football League’s San Jose SaberCats. Fitzgerald was selected to be a play-by-play announcer for TNT and NBA TV’s first round coverage of the 2020 NBA playoffs; he worked with Jim Jackson.
