Byron was on MythBusters as a member of “The Build Team” from 2004 through 2014. Byron hosted Head Rush, a science education and teen-oriented show, and Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships from 2010 to 2011. She hosted Punkin Chunkin on the Science Channel from 2011 until 2014. In 2016, she co-presented Netflix’s White Rabbit Project, and in 2019, she hosted Crash Test World. Byron is also a co-founder of EXPLR Media, a streaming service for education. Byron is an artist and author in addition to his work on television. In 2018, she published her memoir Crash Test Girl. She and the others hosted their own portions as well. She became involved in the show after repeatedly showing up at Hyneman’s M5 Industries workshop in the hopes of being employed by his company.

Byron was on maternity leave for the second half of the 2009 season and was briefly replaced by Jessi Combs. Byron had her own show, Head Rush, on the Scientific Channel from 2010 to 2011, focused on scientific education and youth. Byron also hosted the Science Channel’s Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships in 2010 and 2011. She and Belleci appeared as guests on the Discovery series Sons of Guns on October 3, 2012.
