Iron Chef America is an American culinary show based on Fuji Television’s Iron Chef. It is the series’ second American translation, following the unsuccessful Iron Chef USA, which aired in 2001. Food Network produced the show, which also aired a dubbed version of the original Iron Chef. The program, like the original Japanese program, is a culinary game show. Each episode features a new challenger chef competing against one of the resident “Iron Chefs” in a one-hour culinary competition based on a secret ingredient or ingredients, as well as a theme.

Hughes appeared as a recurring judge on season one of Chopped Canada in 2014. Chopped Canada is a Canadian reality cooking show based on the US show Chopped. The show sets four chefs against one another in a competition for $10,000 and the title of Chopped Canada Champion. It debuted on January 2, 2014, and ended on February 11, 2017. The show’s creators stated in May 2017 that Food Network Canada had canceled the show.
