After Tom Ballard resigned in 2014 to pursue stand-up comedy, Okine took over as co-host of the Triple J breakfast show. Alex Dyson and Okine both left Triple J in 2016 to pursue other interests.

In 2015, he co-hosted How Not to Behave, which aired on ABC for four months. He won Best Comedy Release for Live at the Enmore Theatre at the 2015 ARIA Awards. The Other Guy on Stan was written and starred Okine in 2017.

It was revealed in November 2022 that Okine would play Arthur Beare in a 2023 “reimagining” of the classic ABC TV sitcom Mother and Son, which ran from 1984 to 1994. The new series was also created, written, and executive produced by Okine. Okine came up with the idea in 2013 to make the sitcom a one-camera production instead of a multi-camera setup that was filmed in front of a live studio audience. Geoffrey Atherden, who created the original series, will work with Okine on the 2023 version.
