Kadak began his career with Seven News in Perth, Western Australia. Among the most significant stories he has covered include the 2000 Olympic Games, the 2003 Rugby World Cup, Ansett Australia’s final flight, the 2004 CityRail issue, and the Waterfall train catastrophe. He has also covered state elections for the Seven Network. Kadak was one of several journalists on the ground in Christmas Island during the Tampa incident in 2001, and his story included images of Australian troops storming the ship. While on Christmas Island, he broadcast live to not just Seven News, but also to numerous radio stations across Australia, Sky News (UK), and CNN.
Kadak arrived on the scene barely hours after the Bali bombings in 2002 and stayed for two weeks. Kadak was nominated for a Logie Award in the category of Most Outstanding News Reporter in 2002 but did not win. After long-time correspondent Mike Amor returned home to Melbourne in September 2018, Kadak relocated to the United States. After covering the 2020 United States presidential election for the Seven Network, Kadak returned to Sydney and his prior position as a reporter for Seven News Sydney in November 2020. Kadak hosted the Seven News bulletin in Sydney on Christmas Day 2021.
