Alison Sweeney Career

Sweeney’s TV debut was at age five in a Kodak commercial. She appeared in the horror show Tales from the Darkside’s episode “I Can’t Help Saying Goodbye” a few years later as a young girl who could predict when others would pass away. She made her debut on ABC’s short-lived sitcom Family Man in 1988, and the following year, she was cast as Christy McCray in Chris Carter’s miniseries Brand New Life, which premiered in October 1989 on NBC’s Magical World of Disney. In addition to its Disney tryout, the miniseries starred Don Murray as Sweeney’s new stepfather and Barbara Eden as Sweeney’s mother. However, the regular series never came to be.

Sweeney, then 16 years old, made her debut as Samantha “Sami” Brady in the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives on January 6, 1993. She was a fan of the show.

During the 1990s, social society kept on having extremely risky perspectives on weight. Sweeney was a US dress size 12 (UK dress size 16), not obese by medical standards, but still larger than her peers on television, so this became a problem. She archived all the newspaper talk and individual misery in her 2004 diary, Every one of the Times of My Life (Up until this point).

Sweeney is the author of four books: The Star Attraction (released in May 2013), All The Days of My Life (So Far), and Scared Scriptless: Opportunity Knocks (published in April 2016) and a novel (published in June 2014)[20].

Together with Days co-star Greg Vaughan, Sweeney made an appearance in the Hallmark Original Movie Second Chances in July 2013. Before Sweeney and Vaughn became siblings on Days of Our Lives, the movie was made.

Sweeney made the announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on January 20, 2014, that she would be leaving Days of Our Lives after 21 years to devote more time to her family and work on her other show, The Biggest Loser. In the interview, she said that she would be on the show throughout 2014 and that she would like the show to end with a happy ending with a Breaking Bad twist for her character.

Sweeney joined General Hospital as a director behind the scenes on July 9, 2014, and would begin later that month. Sweeney announced on April 26, 2015, that she would be returning to Days of Our Lives as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the show.

Sweeney was a character in the Joanne Fluke-based Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Murder, She Baked from 2015 to 2017. Sweeney resumed her long-term role as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives on October 13, 2017, more than 24 years after her first appearance.55
