The film was a critical and commercial flop. Laurie was then cast in the crime thriller ‘Physical Evidence,’ with veteran Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds. Although the picture generated “buzz,” it did not perform well at the box office and was also slammed by critics.

She later appeared in TV movies including ‘Echo’ and ‘Alibi.’ She made another success in 1998 when she was cast as a supporting character in the Western TV series ‘The Magnificent Seven.’ She appeared as ‘Mary Travis in 18 episodes of the show. She got her big break in 2001 when she played the supporting character of ‘Adele Stanton’ in Jim Carrey’s romantic period drama ‘The Majestic.’ The film earned negative reviews from critics and was a box office flop.
