Greg Germann is an American actor best known for his role as Richard Fish on the television show Ally McBeal, for which he won a Screen Actors Guild Award. While in New York, he appeared in several Broadway plays, including a role alongside Matthew Broderick in the 1982 play Fancy This, which Germann also co-wrote.

While in New York, he appeared in several Broadway plays, including a role alongside Matthew Broderick in the 1982 play Fancy This, which Germann also co-wrote. He continued to act in plays until 1985 when he saw a poster for wanted actors for a film. In 1986, he moved to Hollywood in search of film success and landed his first role in the teen comedy film The Whoopee Boys. Greg’s supporting role in that film advanced his career, allowing him to star in larger, more mainstream films. His next film was the well-received sequel to one of the most popular horror films of all time, Child’s Play 2, in which he played the character Mattson.

Following Ned & Stacey, Germann was offered the role of Richard Fish on the legal – comedy series Ally McBeal in 1997, which he played for five seasons from 1997 to 2002. During this time, he was nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards and won one. Germann directed a few episodes of Ally McBeal, including “Fear of Flirting” (season 5, episode 4). He played Sherman Yablonsky on ABC’s In Case of Emergency until it was canceled after one season, and he also appeared in the pilot episode of Eureka. He did not reprise the role, and the official comic book explained his character’s disappearance as being reassigned to Alaska.

Following the conclusion of Ally McBeal, Germann starred in several films, including Down to Earth, Sweet November, and Joe Somebody, all of which were released in 2001. He appeared twice on The Bernie Mac Show as a guest. In 2005, he landed lead roles in the family comedies Family Plan and Down and Derby. He appeared as a guest star on Desperate Housewives in 2006. He appeared in the Nickelodeon made-for-television musical film Spectacular! in 2009. Mr. Virgil Romano was played by him. He starred as Jerry Erickson in the 2010 holiday film The Santa Incident. Since the season ten episode “Shiva,” Germann has played NCIS Assistant Director Jerome Craig. Later, in the episode “Canary,” he briefly took over the agency while the director (Leon Vance) was away.

Germann has made sporadic appearances as ADA in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Derek Strauss is a musician. Germann played Hades, the God of the Underworld, in the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time for ten episodes in 2016. He appeared in the movie Foster Boy. In Grey’s Anatomy, he played neurosurgeon Tom Koracick.
