Chris D’Elia is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and podcast host from the United States. He is best known for his roles as Alex Miller on Whitney and Danny Burton on Undateable on NBC.

D’Elia began acting in high school and appeared in a few episodes of Chicago Hope. He studied acting at New York University but dropped out after a year because he disliked college. He then appeared in a film that was only released on DVD. He began writing scripts during his downtime as an actor. He decided to try stand-up comedy, which he had always wanted to do, when he was 25 years old. Since 2006, D’Elia has been doing stand-up comedy. His first performance was at North Hollywood’s Ha Ha Café. He regards himself as a stand-up comedian who also acts. He has appeared on Live at Gotham, Comedy Central Presents, and Showtime’s Live Nude Comedy.

He was introduced to a larger audience as a regular on the TBS series Glory Daze, which aired for one season. He was originally cast only for the pilot episode but was later promoted to series regular.  For two seasons, he co-starred in the NBC comedy series Whitney alongside comedian Whitney Cummings. D’Elia co-hosted the Ten Minute Podcast with Bryan Callen and Will Sasso from 2012 to 2015. Since February 2017, he has hosted the weekly podcast Congratulations with Chris D’Elia, which has charted in multiple countries’ top 20 comedy podcasts.’Babies’ are podcast listeners. His style has been heavily influenced by other podcasts, including The Fighter and the Kid.

D’Elia released his debut parody rap album, Such Is Life (produced by Mr. Green), as MC “Chank Smith” in January 2013. D’Elia’s first one-hour stand-up special, White Male Black Comic, aired on Comedy Central on December 6, 2013. He has three subsequent Netflix comedy specials: Incorrigible (2015), Man On Fire (2017), and No Pain (2020). With the exception of No Pain, which was directed by his brother, these were directed by his father. D’Elia starred as Danny Burton, a ladies’ man whose friends are all “undateable” in some way in the 2014-2016 NBC sitcom Undateable. With a cast of stand-up comics who were friends before the show, the show frequently incorporated improvisation.

D’Elia imitated rapper Eminem and made fun of Eminem’s middle-aged fans on an April 2018 episode of his Congratulations podcast, while admitting that Eminem was “one of the best rappers of all time.”[25] D’Elia imitated Eminem’s rapping again in videos he posted online in September 2018 (in his car) and January 2019 (in his garage) in response to positive feedback. Eminem tweeted the garage video in February 2019, writing, “This is INCREDIBLE!!! 4 a second I actually thought it WAS me!!” The end of Logic’s May 2019 single “Homicide” featuring Eminem included an audio clip from the car video.

It was officially announced in August 2020 that D’Elia would be replaced by Tig Notaro in Army of the Dead (2021). The film’s trailers were released in April 2021, with Notaro replacing D’Elia. Brendan Schaub and Theo Von renamed their weekly podcast “King and the Sting” to “King and the Sting and Wing” on January 13, 2022. “King and the Sting and Wing” was officially renamed “The Golden Hour” on November 4, 2022, with Workaholics actor Erik Griffin replacing Von. Spotify has removed four separate episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring D’Elia, with no explanation provided.
