Iain Glen is a Scottish performer. Glen made his feature film debut in the 1988 film Paris by Night, alongside Charlotte Rampling and Michael Gambon. Iain began his acting career in the 1986 revival of ‘Edward II,’ a Christopher Marlowe Renaissance period play. He made his television debut the same year as ‘Scott Adair’ in the detective series ‘Taggart.’ Later in his career, he appeared in three episodes of the anthology series ‘Screen Two.’

Glen made his feature film debut in the 1988 film Paris by Night, alongside Charlotte Rampling and Michael Gambon. The same year, he co-starred with Sigourney Weaver in Gorillas in the Mist. Glen received the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 40th Berlin International Film Festival in 1990 for his performance in Silent Scream. The following year, he was cast as Hamlet, Prince of Denmark in Tom Stoppard’s film adaptation of his play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which won the Venice Film Festival’s, Golden Lion. Glen was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in 1998 for his performance in The Blue Room, in which he co-starred with Nicole Kidman.
Glen co-starred with Emilia Fox in Roberto Faenza’s 2002 Italian-French-British romance-drama The Soul Keeper Glen played Samson in John Tydeman’s BBC Radio 3 production of Samson Agonistes in 2008. Glen joined the cast of HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2009, playing Ser Jorah Mormont, a knight in exile from Westeros who becomes an adviser to Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) when she joins the Dothraki. In 2010, he played Father Octavian, the leader of a sect of clerics on a mission against the Weeping Angels in “The Time of Angels”and “Flesh and Stone”,, a two-episode story that was part of the fifth season.
Glen co-starred with Richard McCabe in Lucy Bailey’s Fortune’s Fool at the Old Vic from December 2013 to early January 2014. He was scheduled to appear in the full run until late February 2014 , but he was forced to withdraw early to recover from illness, and his role was filled by his understudy Patrick Cremin and then by William Houston, who joined the cast around the same time Glen left. Glen was announced as the new Bruce Wayne on the DC Universe TV show Titans in 2019. Glen appeared in The Rig in 2023 as Magnus MacMillan, the commander of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig, alongside Emily Hampshire, Martin Compston, and Mark Addy.
