As a follow-up to Laguna Beach, MTV produced the reality television series The Hills in 2005: The actual county of Orange Lauren Conrad, who made an appearance on its predecessor, her housemate Heidi Montag, and her friends Whitney Port and Patridge was the focus of the original story. She was hired by Quixote Studios producers during the first season’s production. Patridge was cast with Epic Records the following season. Montag ended her friendship with Patridge later in the season, but the two women later made amends. After Montag moved in with Spencer Pratt, Patridge, and Lo Bosworth later became flatmates with Conrad. Bosworth jokingly referred to Patridge as “Justin Bobby” when she resumed her on-and-off relationship with boyfriend Justin Brescia in the third season. Every subsequent season saw their turbulent relationship continue.
