Terry Deitz is a retired United States Navy pilot, television host, and two-time contestant on the American reality television show Survivor, finishing third in the 12th season. He also competed in the 31st season and finished 15th. He is currently a commercial airline pilot and the host of the Military Channel’s Great Planes.

Terry Deitz Panama
In 2005, Deitz competed on Survivor: Panama — Exile Island. He was known for dominating the challenges, winning five immunity challenges and four reward challenges in a row. He was also the first contestant to discover an immunity idol hidden on Exile Island. However, due to his prowess in the immunity challenges, he was never required to play it. Deitz finished third, behind winner Aras Baskauskas and Danielle DiLorenzo (runner-up).
With five consecutive immunity challenge victories, Deitz is tied with Colby Donaldson of Survivor: The Australian Outback for the most consecutive immunity challenge victories in Survivor history. He also shares the record for most immunity challenge wins in a season with Donaldson, Tom Westman, Ozzy Lusth, Mike Holloway, and Brad Culpepper. Deitz is also tied with Holloway for the most overall post-merge challenge wins in a single season, with four additional reward challenge wins. He is, however, the only one of these five people who has never made it to the finals.
Deitz was considered one of ten past castaways to return for the 16th season of Survivor: Micronesia after his appearance on Survivor: Panama, but he was ultimately cut. He was also considered for the 27th season of Survivor: Blood vs. Water, where he would have competed alongside his daughter, but was rejected because his daughter was under the minimum age requirement at the time.
Terry Deitz Cambodia
Deitz was one of the 16 guys that may have been chosen by viewers for the 31st season of Survivor, Survivor: Cambodia, it was confirmed on May 6, 2015. He and Shane Powers were the two candidates for representatives from Panama on the ballot. Deitz and Powers later admitted to forming a pre-game alliance with Jeff Varner from Survivor: The Australian Outback and Kelly Wiglesworth (from Survivor: Borneo). The other three individuals were chosen and initially assigned to the same tribe, Ta Keo, even though Powers did not make it into the season.
Deitz was one of only two contestants who remained on the Ta Keo tribe after the tribal split on Day 7, with the other being Kelley Wentworth. Deitz finished second for his tribe in the “heroes duel” reward challenge on Day 10. On Day 13, host Jeff Probst arrived at the Ta Keo camp in the middle of the night to inform Terry about his son Danny’s heart condition, and Deitz left the game immediately.
