Laura Whitmore is an Irish model and media personality based in London. In 2008, she worked as a video jockey for MTV and has since hosted television shows such as This Morning, Survival of the Fittest, and Love Island. Laura Whitmore Career
Whitmore competed against other contestants to become the face of MTV News in MTV Europe in the Pick Me MTV campaign that was launched in April 2008 by MTV Networks Europe. She was the host of news bulletins for MTV in Ireland, the UK, and the pan-European MTV channels from 2008 to 2015. She hosted special events in Ireland and other parts of Europe on MTV News frequently.
For five series from 2011, Whitmore facilitated I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! NOW! on ITV2, which airs immediately following I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! On April 14, 2016, Whitmore made the announcement that she was quitting the show. She carried the torch for the 2012 Summer Olympics and made an appearance on the RTÉ television talk show Saturday Night with Miriam in the summer of 2012.
A pilot episode of the songwriting-based ability show The Hit broadcasted in September 2012 on RTÉ Two, facilitated by Whitmore. On March 15, 2013, RTÉ made the announcement that the show had been ordered for a full series, which would air in the summer. However, Whitmore would not host the show because of a conflict with his London schedule. The entire series was presented by Nicky Byrne and Aidan Power.
She and Simon Delaney co-hosted the 11th Irish Film & Television Awards in April 2014. She joined the BBC Eurovision team in 2014 to assist Scott Mills on BBC Three as a commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 semi-finals in Copenhagen, Denmark. In the role, she took Ana Matronic’s place, but she did not return in 2015. She presented the “The Hub” segment of ITV’s This Morning on occasion in 2014.
On 24 October 2014, she showed up in Channel 4’s The Inclination Nuts Satire Night to bring issues to light of testicular malignant growth. On 23 August 2022, it was reported that Whitmore will step down from facilitating Affection Island. One of Whitmore’s reasons for quitting was that her commitment to Love Island was at odds with her new projects.
On RTÉ One’s The Late Late Show in 2003, Whitmore participated in a modeling talent search and made it to the final 15 contestants. She launched a self-branded clothing line in August 2009, which can be found at A Wear.
She was featured on the September cover of FHM magazine in 2011. Whitmore is a spokesperson for the clothing campaign for charity Because I Am a Girl.
In October of 2015, she created a jewelry collection with Daisy London. Music served as the inspiration for the collection, which features the plectrum’s recurring shape throughout.
