She made her acting debut in 2011 as a regular on the long-running soap opera ‘One Life to Live.’ It aired for over four decades before being canceled in 2011, the year Nafessa joined the cast. Her character, ‘Deanna Forbes,’ was added to the show in the last few months. She received her first major film break the same year when she was cast in a key role in the film Streets.’ ‘Nicole Gordon,’ a struggling young musician, was her character. The film was both a critical and commercial flop. She landed another major role in 2012 when she was cast as ‘Margo Ivey in the long-running soap opera ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’
She appeared in the television film ‘Dumb Girls’ in 2013.
