Ellis joined the NewsHour after working as an on-air reporter and anchor for The Washington Post, where she covered social issues and breaking news. She hosted, produced, and directed original documentaries and breaking news videos for The Washington Post’s website, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and Facebook, and she was nominated for a National Outstanding Breaking News Emmy in 2017 for her coverage of Hurricane Harvey. Ellis created and hosted “Should I freeze my eggs?” The Post’s first original documentary series, in which she investigates her own fertility, for which she received the 2019 Digiday Publishers Award.
She also created and hosted the Webby Award-winning news literacy series “The New Normal,” which was the most viewed video series in The Washington Post’s women’s vertical, The Lily’s history. Prior to that, Ellis worked on the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning CNN Heroes production team.
