He also appeared in the 2001 film Monster’s Ball, starring his sister’s then-husband, Billy Bob Thornton. He made an appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2004 and The Game in 2007. Haven was the executive producer of the documentary Trudell, which chronicles the life and work of Santee Sioux musician and activist John Trudell, which was released in 2005. Trudell was a Sundance and Tribeca Film Festival official selection, and it won the Special Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival.
He served as executive producer on the short comedy film That’s Our Mary in 2011, which follows two actresses as they wait for the final casting decision for the role of the Virgin Mary at a faith-based film studio. Haven has been the executive board director of Artivist, a Los Angeles film festival that highlights films about human rights, animal rights, and environmental issues, since 2006.
