Tazi got her start modeling when she was asked to be a part of a Forever 21 campaign. She rose to prominence after modeling for brands such as Sephora and Refinery29, amassing a 200,000-strong Instagram following for her distinct focus on body positivity. She went on to leverage her modeling jobs to fund a music career, using her web connections to locate a manager and start producing music. Dounia was the opening act for Christine and the Queens, a French band, on many tour dates across North America. At Billboard’s “Industry Nights” talent showcase, Tazi performed alongside electro-pop group SHAED. On November 28, a music video for the EP’s third song, “Rich Girl Mood,” filmed by Tired Studio Production and featuring Kehlani, was revealed in anticipation of the release.
Tazi released two singles in March 2019, “ROYAL” and “LOWKEY GRL.” NOT GOOD FOR THE EGO, her third EP, was released in May. The Scandal, her debut album, was released on July 17, 2019, and includes new songs as well as those from Not Good for the Ego.
