After graduation, she worked as an intern for WDSU-NBC. In 2010, she and her husband relocated to New Orleans. Shortly after landing in New Orleans, she started working as a weekend meteorologist for WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a regular fill-in for weekday morning and evening broadcasts, and she oversaw live weather and traffic updates across many platforms. Bree was in charge of weathercasts for the weekend programs at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
She came to St. Louis, her husband’s hometown, in 2011 to work as a weekend meteorologist for KSDK-TV. She was the channel’s weathercaster for five years. Bree’s work required her to track tornadoes and winter storms. Smith also documented the 2016 New Year’s floods, which were particularly dramatic. In 2015, she received the opportunity to do the weather alongside Al Roker on the TODAY show. In the same year, she was appointed a featured contributor to the TODAY Parenting Team.
