Lauren Green with Reza Aslan

Green questioned whether Islam “makes believers more vulnerable to radicalization” in 2011. She was chastised for her questions after a 2013 interview with Iranian-American scholar Reza Aslan (who was then promoting his new book, Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth). Green questioned why a Muslim would write a book about Jesus, saying, “You’re a Muslim, so why did you write a book about Christianity’s founder?” Throughout the film, Aslan defended his credentials several times and stated unequivocally that his interest was scholarly. Green persisted in pressing him on the same points, clearly not listening to what Aslan had to say.

The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple called Green’s questions “dumb, loaded, and prejudicial,” and demanded that Fox apologizes to Aslan. The interview was possible “the single most cringe-worthy, embarrassing interview on Fox News […] in recent memory,” according to Slate’s Daniel Politi. Matthew J. Franck chastised Aslan for claiming to have a degree in religion history when he actually teaches creative writing and has a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion rather than a history degree. “Anyone who thinks this book is an attack on Christianity has not read it yet,” Aslan stated emphatically in the interview.

Lauren Green Coronavirus

Green advocated for churches that defied court orders to stop large gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 15, a stock photo of people holding hands was featured in an editorial written by her and published by Fox News, despite the fact that CDC guidelines at the time advised against it. “To close the churches where people go for comfort and spiritual strength – as an act of fighting against this biological scourge – seems like a surrender to Satan,” the article said, calling handwashing, sanitizing homes, and practicing social distancing a “temporary or flimsy barrier to a raging tsunami.”

For a Fox News piece, Green interviewed Louisiana pastor Tony Spell, arguing that “the fundamental right to freedom of religion in the United States is sacrosanct.” Spell claimed in Green’s article that the church closures were politically motivated and that his church members had been “healed of HIV and cancer — diseases [that are] bigger than COVID-19” through faith.

What is Lauren Green Net Worth?

She has an estimated net worth of $2 Million.
