Jeff Pegues Career

On May 29, 2013, Pegues was designated a CBS News Correspondent. He was named CBS News’ Transportation Correspondent four months into his job. He was elevated to CBS News Justice and Homeland Security Correspondent in late 2014, one of the most difficult and high-profile beats in network news. Pegues delivered the graduating address at his alma mater, Miami University of Ohio, in May 2019.
Pegues worked as a correspondent for WABC-TV in New York City before joining CBS News. During his nearly ten-year tenure at WABC-TV (2003-2013), he garnered multiple Emmy Awards.
He is credited for breaking the story of David Goldman and his international quest for his kid. Jeff was also praised for his great reporting during Superstorm Sandy. As the hurricane made landfall in New York City, he reported on increasing flood levels and flames in Queens. In 2005, he reported from Texas on Hurricane Rita.
Prior to joining WABC-TV, Pegues worked as a reporter for WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received Emmy nominations. He worked as an evening anchor for WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida, a Fox affiliate. It was the top-rated nightly newscast in that market at the time.
